Facial rolling is actually worth all the hype! This simple practice can have your skin feeling better and looking smoother in only a few minutes each day.
What I like about this routine is that it addresses the Shen. The Shen is the idea in Chinese medicine of the body-mind connection. Crystals, especially jade and rose quartz, are amazing stones that are believed to have healing and calming energetic properties. If you have ever been intrigued by the healing powers of crystals you can now incorporate them into a skin care regime as most facial rollers are made of these materials (I'll highlight the differences below).
The history of jade within in healthcare goes back for thousands of years in Chinese medicine as it was used a guasha tool and even as a acupuncture "needle" before the years of metalsmithing. These tools are great to massage the face and neck and leaves the skin feeling relaxed and refreshed.

Jade vs. Quartz, Which Roller Is Right For You?
Jade is a semi-precious stone that has been used in Chinese medicine for a thousands of years. It is cool to the touch and when used with one’s skin it’s helpful with closing the pores and creating firmer skin. This stone can help to relax the nervous system, and promote a sense of balance, calmness, and well-being.
Rose quartz is used to help reduce inflammation and improving circulation. This is a silica stone that is full of minerals such as magnesium and iron. Rose quartz is largely associated with confidence, self- love, and harmony.
How to Jade Roll
Cleanse your skin and then apply you favorite face oil, moisturizer or serum all over face and neck. (See my article about face oils if you need some direction choosing an option.)
Start rolling at your chin and move in an upward and outward motion towards your ears. Make at least three passes on each section of your face. Continue up cheeks and around eyes.
Use the small side of the roller for around the eyes and ears (and the large side for neck, cheeks, and forehead).
Roll upwards on the forehead, and down on the neck.
Continue doing so for 2-5 minutes each day. I like to use my roller in the morning to kick start my day with healthy vibrant skin and a bright yet relaxed take on the world!
